  • COMPLAINT ABOUT BIG 5 SPORTING GOODS SELLING DEFECTIVE BOOTS

The heels of the hiking boots I had purchased from the Big 5 Sporting Goods in Oceanside store became unglued and flopped half way through a moderate hike. This happened the first time I wore the boots! I have been given nothing but a great deal of hassle, run-around, grief and frustration since I brought these boots back to the store for a refund or store credit. I brought the defective boots to the store about a month ago and asked for store credit since I no longer had the receipts. The assistant manager (Jordan) examined the boots and agreed that they were in brand new condition,... More...

  • Garbage for sale

I bought a pair of walking shoes and a pair of work shoes in the Roseville, CA store. The walking shoes were Dr. Scholls brand, so I expected at least fair quality. The soles and heels came unglued and flopped as I walked. I re-glued them with Shoe Goo, but then the finish began peeling from the shoes, it was only a sprayed-on layer of black vinyl. They became completely unpresentable. All this happened within only 5 weeks of use, most of it indoors. The work shoes were Luggs. While the uppers held up OK and still look fine, the heels and soles are molded with hollow cavities... More...

  • Dublin office mgr & staff rude

I walked into the store and was not greeted, I guess it would interrupt the staff joking around. I went to buy my daughter some soccer shoes but no one was there, and was never asked if I need help. I then went to pick out goalie gloves and shin pads. I went to seek out assistance and apparently it was the mgr I ran into and with unprofessionalism, insincerity was bothering her as if a regret for being there. I turned it down and left. Another staff member provided a condescending grin. I will never do business with Big 5, as now I will go where courtesy is highly predictable More...

  • Poor Return Policy

Yesterday I purchased a top that was on sale for $5.99 with cash. The top did not fit so I returned it later in the same day, with original tag on it and the cash register receipt. All I wanted to do was get a larger size. When I returned to the register with the correct size I had to show my ID. Corporate policy I was told. Really, for an exchange (same product) and I paid cash. So I reluctantly got my ID out and then was told I had to sign for the return. I will never, ever set foot in the store again. I am surprised I was not stripped search. All for a $5.99 item paid for with... More...

  • Gave me a refund and took my money!

I am writing this so no one gets in the same situation I was put in. About 3 months ago I had a $50 purchase that I needed to return to Big 5 Sporting Goods. A younger girl helped me with the refund, and gave me a receipt print out that she said I needed to bring back when I wanted to use the store credit. Two weeks ago I went in and found something I wanted to purchase with the credit, and I was informed that the piece of receipt looking paper I had was not valid. I got very upset and asked to speak to the manager. He told me that whoever helped me months ago should have given me a... More...

I had a receipt and a faulty product and the manager, "Adam" from Henderson NV, said we were using the product wrong ( an air mattress?)and refused the exchange. He was rude and gave false information regarding corporate HQ to complain. Then I called another store to question policy and they did not even greet me but rather placed me on eternal hold.
